Volkswagen has distributed the first teasers of new affordable electric crossovers that will be produced under the brands VW, Skoda and Cupra. The production of cars for the European market will be established in Spain by 2025.

The German concern has invested 10 billion euros in the development of a new plant, the active phase of construction of which will begin next year. The company will produce compact and relatively inexpensive electric vehicles costing from 20,000 to 25,000 euros.

The three models will be based on the scalable MEB architecture specially developed by Volkswagen for the new generation of electric cars. All cars will have similar dimensions and proportions, but will differ from each other in design and level of equipment.

The future budget model of Volkswagen can be judged by the concept car ID. Life , presented in September 2021 as part of the Munich Motor Show. A small car with a length of about 4.1 meters was equipped with a single electric motor with a capacity of 231 hp, which transmits traction to the front axle.

The engine allows the crossover to accelerate to “hundreds” in 6.9 seconds, and its top speed is forcibly limited at around 180 km/h. A 57 kWh battery pack provides a range of 400 km.
