McMurphy noticed the snake on the hood of his car when he was driving on the highway. Action, according to the source was quite predictable and humane, the driver pull up to the curb and stopped, so that the snake can leave the hood of the car and crawl about their business in the woods or re-crawled to look for a new car for hitchhiking.
