UAZ will present a new model on September 5, 2021, the premiere of which will take place in the Moscow region as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Russian automaker. This was reported in the official group of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant “VKontakte”.

No further details about the vehicle are provided. For the past few years, UAZ has been working on a new SUV, known in the media as the Russian Land Cruiser Prado . However, in January 2021, the company froze the project due to the coronavirus pandemic and a number of other reasons. At the same time, UAZ stressed that there was no talk of a final rejection of the project.

At the moment, we only know about this model that it should be a substantially modernized Patriot with a frame structure. Judging by the published renders, the new product will differ from its predecessor with a different shape of the radiator grille, hood, fenders and LED optics.

The SUV was supposed to be equipped with a new turbo engine developed by the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ), which provides for two stages of forcing: 150 and 180 horsepower. Transmissions – 6-speed “mechanics” or “automatic” of the same range. Plus, there was information that the 2.2-liter Ford Transit diesel engine, which is produced at the Sollers facilities, could be adapted for the SUV.

The latest innovations of UAZ are special modifications of the Patriot and Pickup models, the engines of which can run on both gasoline and natural gas. In addition, it is known that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant is developing a mobile home based on a light truck “Profi”.
