Lincoln has unveiled an updated version of its flagship model, the Navigator frame SUV. The car received a slightly changed appearance, a modernized interior, as well as a semi-automatic control system that allows you to drive without hands on the steering wheel on certain roads.
Externally, the 2022 Navigator can be distinguished from its predecessor by a slightly redesigned front end with a larger grille and tapered LED headlights. The rear lights were installed with new graphics.
The cabin has a modernized digital dashboard, a projection display, and a new 5.8-inch touch screen for multimedia and climate control became available for second-row passengers. Heated and ventilated seats are standard.
As for the technical part, the SUV received an improved adaptive suspension based on a front camera and 12 sensors. The electronics are capable of changing up to 100 settings every second, depending on the specific traffic situation.
In addition, the models have added a semi-automatic control function called ActiveGlide, based on Ford’s BlueCruise technology (owns the Lincoln brand). Guided by the indications of a complex complex of video cameras, sensors and radars, the system can independently be responsible for acceleration and deceleration up to a complete stop and start of movement, as well as control the steering.
ActiveGlide operates only on certain sections of US highways with a total length of 210 thousand kilometers. In this case, the driver can remove his hands from the steering wheel, but a special camera on the front panel will follow the eyes of the motorist, who must look at the road.
The engine also underwent changes: the output of the 3.5-liter V6 engine was reduced by 10 hp. – up to 446 horsepower. As before, the motor works in conjunction with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The drive can be both rear and all-wheel drive.
The updated Lincoln Navigator will go on sale in the US in early 2022. Cars of the American brand are not officially supplied to Europe, including Russia.
