The new Mercedes C-Class received an off-road version

The German company has unveiled the off-road station wagon C-Class All-Terrain, which will premiere at the Munich Motor Show

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new modification of the C-Class station wagon called All-Terrain, adapted for off-road driving. The public premiere of the car will take place in early September at the Munich Motor Show.

Technically, the All-Terrain version differs from the standard station wagon with a retuned suspension with larger steering knuckles and a 40 mm increase in ground clearance.

In addition, engineers have added two new Dynamic Select modes: Offroad and Offroad +, which adapt the control electronics for driving on moderate to severe off-road conditions. Plus, the station wagon got a downhill assist system.

The engine lineup includes 2.0-liter petrol and diesel units with a 48-volt starter-generator, which provides additional electric traction during sharp accelerations. The output of the first engine is 258 hp, and the diesel unit produces 200 horsepower. Both motors are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive system, which distributes torque between the axles in the ratio of 45% and 55% in favor of the rear wheels.

European sales of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class All-Terrain will begin before the end of the year. Prices for the off-road wagon will be announced later.
