Lexus brought to the tests of the LX SUV of the new generation

The first spy photos of the new flagship model of Lexus, which will be created on the basis of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, have appeared

At the disposal of the publication TFLtruck were the first spy shots of the next-generation Lexus LX SUV. Heavily camouflaged car was spotted on one of the roads in the suburbs of Long Beach, California.

The publication cites several reasons why the photographed car is the new LX. So, the test prototype was constantly followed by a Toyota Yaris hatchback, which, presumably, acted as an escort car. At the same time, both cars had license plates from the state of Texas, where the Japanese company has its own technical center.

In addition, the SUV is visually comparable in size to the new Toyota Land Cruiser 300, with which it will share the main components and assemblies. Finally, in one of the pictures, despite the camouflage, you can see the outlines of a huge branded trapezoidal radiator grille Lexus.

Earlier it was reported that the flagship model of the new generation of Lexus will debut in late 2021 or early 2022. It will share the engine line with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, which includes a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with a capacity of 420 hp, as well as a 3.3-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 299 horsepower on the Russian version of the model. Both engines work together with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. In addition, the appearance of a modification with a hybrid powertrain is not excluded.

Presumably, in Japan, prices for the Lexus LX with a new supercharged petrol unit will start from 12.5 million yen — about 8.5 million rubles) – about 1 million yen more expensive than the current SUV.

In Russia, the Lexus LX is currently available with a 5.7-liter V8 petrol engine with a capacity of 367 hp, as well as a 272-horsepower diesel engine with a volume of 4.5 liters. Prices for the model start at 7,680,000 rubles.
