AvtoVAZ is preparing to release a simplified version of Lada Vesta. The production of the model will be established at the plant in Izhevsk. According to the public on the social network “VKontakte” “Russian car”, it will be a restyled model , but with the old interior design. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
At the same time, the simplified Lada Vesta will be equipped with a modernized 1.6-liter VAZ-11182 engine. The power of the unit is 90 horsepower. It is alleged that the level of localization of this motor is at a “conditionally acceptable level.” The first cars with such a unit will go on sale in September 2022.
Earlier it became known that AvtoVAZ is going to start production of special versions of Lada cars from June 2022, the design of which uses a minimum number of imported components under sanctions. In parallel with the development of such machines, the Russian automaker is working to find alternatives to key foreign components “for a speedy return to the production of standard modifications.”
Plus, AvtoVAZ announced its support for the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which proposed to adopt a new technical regulation to reduce the safety requirements for Russian-made cars. This should allow the production of machines to continue in the current conditions of an acute shortage of components.
According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), AvtoVAZ sold 12,289 Lada cars in March this year, which is 64% less than last year. As for individual models, last month the first place was taken by Lada Granta, which sold 3,433 units. For comparison, in March 2021, 12,686 copies of this model were sold in Russia. The second position is occupied by Lada Vesta with the result of 3167 cars (-5512 units compared to the previous year).
