From cool “Niva” to the fastest crossover Porsche: the main novelties of autumn
In autumn, sales of new products from Kia and Hyundai, an extreme version of Lada Niva, as well as the fastest SUV from Porsche will start in Russia. Will not do without new crossovers from China

Over the past five years, the range of cars officially sold in Russia has decreased by about a third. During this time, several large manufacturers have left the market, the demand for compact city hatchbacks has disappeared, and there are practically no cars left in niche classes, including supercars and convertibles. Nevertheless, there is still plenty to choose from: this fall, dealers will have a number of completely different models.
Kia cerato
Already in September, Kia will begin Russian sales of the updated Cerato model , the production of which was set up at the Kaliningrad Avtotor . The sedan can be distinguished from its predecessor by the modified frontal optics with six-section daytime running lights. Plus, the car got a different front bumper with modified air intakes with a black glossy edging, and a multimedia system display increased from 8 to 10.25 inches in the cabin. Finally, an electronic parking brake and a remote engine start system with a smart key were added to the list of options.

But the engine range will remain the same: the sedan will be offered with 1.6- and 2.0-liter engines with a capacity of 128 and 150 hp. respectively. But the compact sedan will be the first car of the South Korean brand with a new corporate emblem, which was replaced by Kia for the first time in almost a quarter century. Then the logo with interconnected letters will appear on at least 10 more models, including the new generation Sportage crossover. However, he will only reach Russia next year.

Hyundai staria
The main novelty of Hyundai in the first half of 2021, perhaps, was the new generation Tucson crossover , but in the second half of the year, an equally interesting model, Staria , will reach us . This is a completely new minivan with an unusual design in the style of spaceships and a very spacious cabin that allows for many different configurations. The key theme of the exterior was the curved line, which, according to the official release, should evoke “associations with a strip of light illuminating the Earth’s horizon during sunrise when looking at it from space.”

Cars are produced in both commercial and passenger versions – with 11, 9 and 7 seats. In the latter case, the middle row seats can be reclined almost completely back at the push of a button, while the 9-seat second row seats can be rotated 180 degrees so that the passengers sit facing each other. Staria will be offered with a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 177 hp, as well as with 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 units capable of consuming gasoline or LPG. However, all this concerns versions for the Korean market, and Russian specifications have not yet been announced.

Porsche Cayenne GT
The Porsche Cayenne GT will be perhaps the most exciting new addition to the premium segment this fall – the German manufacturer calls the car the fastest production crossover in the world. The cross-coupe confirmed this title at the Nürburgring Northern Loop, where the car, driven by Lars Kern, covered the 20.8-kilometer track in 7 minutes and 38.925 seconds. By the way, this is one second less than the result of the Bugatti Veyron shown in 2005.

The cross-coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 640 hp. and 850 Nm of torque. This is less than the gasoline-electric modification of the model – Turbo S E-Hybrid, which has a total power of 680 hp. At the same time, the car with the classic combustion engine outperforms the hybrid in terms of dynamic performance on the racetrack due to its lighter weight and other suspension settings. Porsche has already started taking orders for the Cayenne GT, which will hit dealerships by the end of this fall. The car will cost at least 16,100,000 rubles.

Lada Niva Bronto
AvtoVAZ will soon start selling the updated Lada Niva Legend SUV in the most extreme version of the Bronto . This modification is distinguished from the standard car by a reinforced suspension and a rear axle, as well as an upgraded all-wheel drive system with locking front and rear differentials. In addition, the SUV has mud tires, “Bronto” emblems on the sides, as well as plastic front fascia and additional sill protection and wheel arch extensions.

Lada Niva Bronto is equipped with the same 1.7-liter unit that develops 83 hp. and 129 Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, heated front seats and mirrors, and fog lights. At the moment, SUVs have already begun to arrive at the official dealers of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, and their prices will be announced in the near future.

Genesis GV70
Recently, the Kaliningrad enterprise Avtotor began production of the new Genesis GV70 crossover , which will compete with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. The second serial SUV of Hyundai’s premium sub-brand will be available with a 199-horsepower 2.2-liter turbodiesel, as well as 2.0 and 3.5-liter petrol engines with 249 and 279 hp. respectively. All units work together with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

For Genesis GV70, prices for which range from 4,150,000 rubles. up to RUB 6,150,000, five configurations are provided. In the basic version, the crossover is equipped with 10 airbags, an uphill start assist system, a light sensor, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera and an infotainment complex with a 14.5-inch touchscreen display. Older versions have a full range of modern assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control with machine learning, which is able to adapt to the owner’s driving style.

CheryExeed VX and LX
The Chinese company Chery continues to expand its premium line called CheryExeed: new VX and LX crossovers will appear in Russia in the fall . The first is a large SUV, similar in size to the Toyota Land Cruiser. In China, it is available with a 1.6-liter 197-horsepower turbo engine, as well as 2.0-liter supercharged units with 220 and 254 horsepower. The cabin features a three-row layout, a front panel with two large 12.3-inch displays, an additional touchscreen on the center tunnel, and a small electronic transmission selector.

As for the LX model, in China, the compact crossover is offered with petrol turbo engines of 1.5 and 1.6 liters, developing 156 and 197 hp. respectively. The first engine works together with a variator, and the second is paired with a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. According to preliminary data, in Russia the model will be offered with all-wheel drive.

FAW Bestune T77
Another Chinese crossover that will arrive in Russia in the fall is the FAW Bestune T77 , comparable in size to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Toyota RAV4. Its sales were supposed to begin in 2020, but since then, the delivery time has been shifted several times. The car with a length of 4.5 m will be offered with an uncontested 1.5-liter turbo unit with a capacity of 160 hp, capable of working together with a 6-speed manual transmission or with a 7-band “robot” with two clutches.

The list of available equipment will include LED optics, a virtual instrument cluster, an infotainment complex with a touchscreen display, as well as a panoramic roof and 19-inch wheels. Interestingly, the T77 has an unusual option in its home country in the form of a special “holographic voice assistant” projected on the front panel. However, whether such a “feature” will appear in Russia is a big question.
