Dodge decided to revive the Hornet model

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has said the legendary Hornet name will be resurrected later this year, most likely a new crossover name.

Recall that the AMC Hornet model was produced from 1970 to 1977, and then the right to this name passed to the Chrysler concern, which acquired the AMC brand in 1987. It was the AMC Hornet that became the first US model to have a beam on the inside of the doors to protect passengers in the event of a side impact.

Hornet was remembered not only because of its design. He appeared in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. Well, there was also the Hudson Hornet, which became famous thanks to its sports victories (the image of the model formed the basis of Doc Hudson from the cartoon “Cars”).

In 2006, the Americans already wanted to revive the Hornet and even showed the concept of a small crossover with that name. However, he never entered the series.

It is assumed that the serial Dodge Hornet will be built on the same platform as the Italian Alfa Romeo Tonale. And under the hood of the car will be a supercharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with a capacity of 256 hp. or a hybrid power plant with a capacity of about 300 hp.
