BMW introduced the seventh generation 7-Series sedan. The flagship model of the Bavarian brand for the first time in its 45-year history will be available not only with internal combustion engines, but also with a fully electric power plant.

The new BMW 7-Series received an appearance in the style of the upgraded X7 crossover, presented in mid-April. A distinctive feature of the car was a two-level front optics with upper LED double blocks that perform the functions of daytime running lights and dynamic direction indicators. Under them are the main sections of the matrix headlights.

In the cabin, a huge curved display Live Cockpit Plus of the new generation appeared. It combines a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen.

As an option, a 31.3-inch 8K multimedia screen can be installed in the rear of the car, as well as support for various services, including Amazon Prime Video, Twitch, Red Bull, Tubi, Amazon Music, and the News App. The rear passengers will be able to control the functionality of the system using special 5.5-inch tablets integrated into the doors.

At launch, the new BMW 7-Series will be available with 286 and 380 horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-sixes. At the top of the line will be the 760i xDrive version with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 544 hp. and 750 Nm of torque. All engines are now integrated with a mild hybrid system with a 48-volt starter-generator providing an additional 12 hp. and 200 Nm of torque during hard acceleration.

In addition, the flagship sedan received an electric version of the i7 with two units mounted on the front and rear axles. Their total power is almost identical to the return of the “senior” gasoline engine – 544 hp. and 744 newton meters. Such a car is capable of accelerating to “hundreds” in 4.7 seconds, and its maximum speed is forcibly limited at around 240 km / h.

The standard equipment of the model included an adaptive air suspension, as well as a complex of modern electronic assistants, corresponding to the autopilot of the “2+” level. This means that the electronics can independently control acceleration and deceleration, as well as change lanes depending on the traffic situation.

Car sales will start in autumn 2022. For example, in the US, prices for the new BMW 7-Series start at 94.3 thousand, and the i7 electric sedan will cost at least $ 120.3 thousand.
