Volkswagen to launch new Tavendor coupe crossover based on Teramont X in China
In the crossover range of Volkswagen replenishment is coming again. Very soon, a new Tavendor crossover will appear in it, which will become a direct analogue of the coupe-shaped Teramont X and will be sold only in the Chinese market.

The Volkswagen Tavendor is a continuation of the same model dualism that Chinese joint ventures SAIC-Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen have long observed. By releasing models competing with each other, they expand the range and give customers more freedom of choice.
Based on the data of the Chinese certification body, the novelty will be built on the “global” MQB modular platform with a transverse engine and basic front-wheel drive. The wheelbase will be the same as the Teramont – 2980 mm, and in terms of body size it will be slightly larger than the Touareg – length, width and height will be 4936 mm, 2015 mm and 1756 mm, respectively.
The Tavendor salon, despite its impressive dimensions, will be made five-seater – adding a third row will not work even for a surcharge. But there will be an R-Line version, recognizable by more interesting bumpers and a darkened head optics substrate.
In the engine range, only the base 2.0-liter “turbo four” with 186 horsepower has also been announced so far, but later two more engines from Teramont X should join it – these are 2.0 TSI turbo engines with 220 horsepower and 2.5 TSI VR6 with a capacity of 299 horsepower, which are combined with a seven-speed “robot” DSG and all-wheel drive.
We will learn more about the new Volkswagen Tevandor after its debut, which will take place before the end of this year. At the same time, prices and official photos should appear.
