BMW spoke about the new generation X1 crossover



The premiere of the third-generation BMW X1 compact crossover, which will receive an all-electric version for the first time, will take place in the fall of 2022.

BMW has published photos of a camouflaged prototype of the new iX1 crossover, which will be an all-electric version of the third generation X1. The official premiere of the model, which will be available with both traditional internal combustion engines and electrified power plants.

Sea trials of the new BMW iX1 took place in the Swedish Arjeplog, located on the edge of the Arctic Circle. During the tests, experts checked how low temperatures affect the operation of electrical units and batteries, and also tuned the chassis and the main electronic systems of the car.

The BMW iX1 will receive the fifth generation eDrive powertrain, which will include two electric motors. They will be located on each of the axles and will provide permanent all-wheel drive. According to preliminary data, without recharging, the crossover will be able to travel up to 440 km.

As for the options with classic internal combustion engines, the range of engines will be represented by four-cylinder gasoline and diesel units, the most powerful of which will develop 306 horsepower.
