Mazda began serial production of the new crossover CX-60
The CX-60 large crossover is Mazda’s first production model to receive a hybrid powertrain.
Mazda has begun mass production of the new CX-60 crossover, introduced in early March 2022. The model got on the conveyor of the enterprise in the Japanese city of Hofu (Yamaguchi Prefecture).
The CX-60 crossover opens up a new era in Mazda’s history. This model, developed completely from scratch, received a completely new rear-wheel drive platform, which will subsequently form the basis of all the main machines of the Japanese brand. The new chassis has a longitudinal engine layout. It is possible to use power units of various types and permanent all-wheel drive.
The CX-60 crossover was Mazda’s first model with a hybrid powertrain with the ability to recharge batteries from external power sources. The combined installation included a 2.5-liter petrol aspirated SkyActive-G, a 17.8 kilowatt-hour traction battery, and a compact electric motor integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The total output of the units was 327 hp. and 500 Nm of torque. The large crossover is capable of gaining the first “hundred” in 5.8 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited at around 200 km/h. Purely on electric traction, the car can travel up to 63 km.
In addition, modifications with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 188 hp and a 231-horsepower 2.2-liter turbodiesel are provided for the Mazda CX-60.
The new Mazda CX-60 has been developed as a global model for many global markets. The first batch of cars will be shipped to Europe from Japan on April 26th.
