Review of the new Chinese copies of cars
Copycats cars from China: great review
We know why you’re here. You came to our page because you love this Chinese “art” – skopipastit someone else’s car idea and make something smile won’t go with your face. I think this is not normal? No, you sure everything is OK and you are not alone. We assure you, you are definitely not alone! Let’s have a look on the fresh Chinese copies with showroom in Guangzhou and remember some of the most notable examples of the past…
This new electric SUV, the BYD Yuan EV360
Launched in China in may this year, he might look quite familiar. We use this car as a starting point to look at all the Chinese imitators who were at the show, and then take a look at other copies that somehow caught us and you for many years:
FORD ECOSPORT
Indian EcoSport disappointed us with their General and, frankly, low quality standards when it first went on sale in 2014. Endless “facelift”, since then, has not improved the situation. The car remained in embryo.
But even with such a weak car, the Chinese managed to make a copy. You see it in the photo above, is a model of crossover BYD Yuan EV360.
CHANGAN EADO GT (MAZDA 3)
Noticed something familiar about this hatchback Changan, exhibited at the motor show in Guangzhou? It seems that Chinese designers once again drew inspiration from the Mazda 3.
MAZDA 3
The competitor models such “Golf class” as the Focus, Astra and VW Golf himself, this Japanese hatchback or sedan with excellent handling differs from its competitors by having all rarer petrol engine without turbo.
BJ40 PLUS (JEEP WRANGLER)
Chinese automakers are not yet fully weaned from a culture of imitation, as is proved by the model BJ40. Its Creator is a state company BAIC, which is based in Beijing.
JEEP WRANGLER
However, we think that we prefer to “Chinese” Wrangler.
CHANGAN CS85 (BMW X4)
What copies are made in China except for SUVs? SUVs-coupes! The trend is now firmly extends to the entire automobile, China. The absolutely indigestible name “CS85” from Changan gathered around him a large crowd to the show, and the first thing noticed by many, is the strong similarity of the first profile with the BMW X4. To be honest, the employees of Chinese carmaker Changan made a lot of their own improvements.
BMW X4
The original X4 was launched in 2014, but he was destined to a short life. In the beginning of this year, the Bavarian crossover has been replaced with a sharper version of its coupe-SUV.
Beijing SUV BJ80 (MERCEDES G–CLASS)
Triaxial SUV may sound familiar… that’s right, it’s a deadly response from China on Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6.
MERCEDES–BENZ G–CLASS
But this is the original G-Class G63 AMG 6×6. It looks clearly better. Interestingly, a Chinese counterpart will also be able to fly? Or rather, what will happen to him after landing?
LANDWIND X7 (RANGE ROVER EVOQUE)
Model “X7” from Landwind was made in 2014 as a competitor in the local market for the Range Rover Evoque. Because it smacked of obvious plagiarism, and of sufficient quality, the new Chinese model has received the attention of the world autoabstract and in some ways even became legendary. The scandal only fueled interest in the new crossover.
RANGE ROVER EVOQUE
In the end, the Chinese government sided and Landwind X7 is on sale. Perhaps one of the lasting impacts is that Land Rover later to the last secret of the pre-conception of its new SUV Velar – car introduced in 2017. As you can see, it has had its fruits, while in China it is not copied new.
CHANGAN X70A (LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 4)
Even care model on a holiday may not be a safe way to avoid copying. Design Land Rover Discovery 4 which was replaced in 2017, was used to inspire the creators of Changan X70A, a large SUV from the car manufacturer from the city of Chongqing.
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 4
While the front part looks different, the side profile of the car is unmistakably British.
WEIKERUI V7 (VOLKSWAGEN E-UP)
A recent addition to the “clone club” was the model Weikerui V7. Know what car is hidden under the changing mask? Yes, this model VW e-Up.
VOLKSWAGEN E–UP
Even the badge on the front fascia similar to the Volkswagen logo.
ZOTYE SR9 (PORSCHE MACAN)
The “body” of the Stuttgart bestseller was brazenly copied, there is a new wonder model Zotye SR9 (top left). Crossover SR9 will initially be available with only one engine in the lineup is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol power unit, previously migrated from Mitsubishi. Power – 187 HP and torque of 250 Nm. Original Macan shown in the right bottom.
LIFAN 320 (MINI)
Lifan 320 is a 1.3-litre supermini produced by Lifan. First introduced at the Beijing auto show in 2008, he gained fame because of its resemblance to the Mini hatchback.
MINI
Facelift 2013 distancing herself from the original British Mini-clone. But curiously, the Mini became more than vaguely similar to the Fiat 500….
SHUANGHUAN SCEO (BMW X5)
Maybe have the front part of the first-generation Lexus RX, but the Chinese model has received the remaining ¾ of the body completely different brand.
SHUANGHUAN SCEO (BMW X5)
The side and rear is clearly visible the influence of the original German model BMW X5, which is impossible to miss.
BMW X5
BMW, of course, did not miss the fact of the theft, calling the automaker Shuanghuan SCEO in court. The resulting car was banned in Germany. So a victory, the Chinese did on your car at home and not in Germany.
CH AUTO LITHIA (AUDI R8)
You might think that the corporate profile of the Audi R8 can only be R8, but CH Auto so liked the design that they decided to develop something similar called Lithia – electric supercar of its own production.
AUDI R8
Front and back of the clone look quite original, but the profile of electric cars from China unmistakably belongs to the R8.
GEELY BEAUTY LEOPARD (HYUNDAI COUPE)
Proving that the car culture of imitation for China is not something new, citing the example of Geely BL, who managed to inspire as Hyundai coupe front and rear Toyota Supra.
HYUNDAI COUPE
Fortunately, Geely does not adhere to the same design approach from Volvo, which the company acquired in 2010.
YOUXIA RANGER X (TESLA MODEL S)
Reminiscent of the Tesla Model S both inside and outside, Youxia – Chinese high-tech electric car, judging by the marks somewhere in space. However, the technical characteristics are quite earthly: the claimed acceleration time to 100 km/h of 5.6 seconds, range per charge – 460 km.
TESLA MODEL S
Tesla, apparently, did not say anything about a clone from China.
CAR FROM THE SHANGHAI NOBLE (SMART FORTWO)
Don’t let the name fool you, this car is a copy of the Noble M600, and its design intentions are not noble. Despite their appearance and the similarity with the two-seater Smart Fortwo, the Noble has four seats.
SMART FORTWO
Though how comfortable those four can accommodate is unknown.
DOJO PIONEER (ASTON MARTIN CYGNET)
If you chose any Aston Martin for cloning, it is unlikely that would stay on the model Cygnet. Although a direct transcription of the names it’s a funny – “Signet”. However, Smoking is bad! OK.
ASTON MARTIN CYGNET
He Cygnet was built around the base of the Toyota iQ (although not copied, I hasten to add). The Chinese model is also electric, can travel 120 km on a single charge, and its maximum speed is rapid 60 km/h.
YOGOMO S325 (RANGE ROVER EVOQUE)
As copycat this model and a pioneer. Front and rear lights are miniature versions of the Range Rover Evoque, but the rest of the body taken from the high, uncomfortable supermini.
RANGE ROVER EVOQUE
We don’t think JLR will lose sleep over a car stealing sales of the Evoque.
YOGOMO 330 (KIA PICANTO)
Kia, on the other hand, can be a bit more upset about it. Yogomo 330 – one of the finest copies we have seen.
KIA PICANTO
I did it, right?
GEELY MERRIE 300 (MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS)
Rear Geely Merrie – another anonymous Chinese sedan. The front of this Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In the exterior there are no minor modifications or changes, all copied under the tracing paper Mercedes to the smallest detail. Maybe the Germans sold the patent for the front of the car?
MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS
Spot the difference.
BYD (BMW)
The Chinese copy not only the cars themselves, but also icons. The emblem of the “propeller” of the BMW was also stolen, albeit in modified form. It is clear from BYD drew inspiration from the font, colours, shape and layout of my first logo.
BMW
We believe that the original is still better.
